FEATURED DESIGNER

Taika Tori

Award winning international Illustration artist and pattern maker with a lot of love for everything vintage.

In 3 words describe your pattern design style?
Whimsical, feminine, illustrative.
What is your work & design process?
Getting inspired, drawing and sketching in Procreate, sometimes good old hand painting, the final touch and design process in Photoshop. As I am an illustrator and pattern designer, I am incorporating and recycling many design elements that I have drawn throughout my creative career.
Where do you find your design inspiration?
Literally everywhere! It could be the packaging of a noodle soup in the Chinese market, an unusual color combination I notice somewhere, an old parasol in a street cafe or autumn leaves on the boardwalk.
What advice would you give to new designers?
Don’t give up when it’s difficult, practice, learn, stay on it. The breakthrough will come. It’s around the corner.
