In 3 words describe your pattern design style?
Diverse, story-telling, eye-catching
What is your work & design process?
I’m really into digital drawing these days. Most of my drawing is done on my iPad. The infinite possibilities offered through digital drawing add wings to my ideas. When I begin work, first I study trends for each theme and visualize an image in my own individual style. Patternbank provides a lot of guidelines and information about current trends. Second, I select colors and draw 4-5 motifs. Third, I do editing on my computer. I think I put the most energy into this step because it adds a story to the pattern. Finally, I create a few different color options and do color separation.
Where do you find your design inspiration?
I get inspiration from everything in my life. I especially like old movies and magazines because they have classic styles. Classic designs never go out of style. And of course, I get a lot of inspiration from the internet.
What advice would you give to new designers?
I’d like to say don’t pay too much attention to other people’s creations, just focus on your own. Don’t even compare. Stick to your own individual style, but don’t deviate too far from the big trends. No matter what, I draw something everyday. Build up your page in order to boost your selling and skills. Practice is the answer. If I can do it, then you can too. Let’s try together!
