Madame Peripetie Fashion, Sculpture and the Human Body inspiration

Patternbank love Madame Peripetie’s surreal interpretations of the human body. Through high-fashion, sculpture, photography and collage Peripetie explores the boundaries between these disciplines experimenting with colour, fabric, texture and patterns. Her inspirations include surrealism, dadadism, the new wave era of the 80′s, British post punk scene and the avant-garde theatre of Robert Wilson. Check out more of her work at madameperipetie.com and on behance.net

Hannah Waldron Texture, Pattern and Structure print pattern

Stockholm based print designer Hannah Waldron exhibits a strong sense of pattern and structure in her prints, and more recently has embraced weave, translating her signature style into structured textiles. With an enviable list of commissions in her portfolio including a tapestry commission for PICK ME UP 2012, and various projects for the V&A, Pizza Express and Paul Smith to name but a few, Hannah’s success is abundant. Patternbank love her stylised approach to pattern, building images with simple lines and blocks. Hannah’s ‘Furoshiki‘ (a type of traditional Japanese wrapping cloth that were frequently used to transport clothes, gifts, or other goods) are available to buy, with 10% of sales  going towards recovery efforts in Tohoku, specifically to rebuild a sewing factory where Furoshikis are made.

Jose Lerma Mixed Media knows No Bounds inspiration

José Lerma creates a mixture of paintings and intricate installations combining non-traditional materials from reflective fabrics, commercial carpet, thickly applied paint and biro pen. In this he makes reference to his own personal history and academic knowledge of social history, law and art. Some of these images feature Baroque style portraits of historical, famous French Bankers from 18th Century sporting over-exaggerrated sketchy, doodle wigs with distorted and blank faces. The scale of the installation pieces has great effect where the viewer can walk over and examine at detail. Lerma says, ” I like the thought of people walking over my ideas, convoluted and preliminary as they often are, and examining and stepping over an intimate space while simultaneously feeling small.” You can see more of is highly spell bounding work at joselerma.com  and on flickr

Anne Sofie Melgaard Tropical Garden Displays inspiration

Anne Sofie Melgaard manages to convey such wonderful texture and colour-use in her paintings of tropical gardens. Foliage appears in relief next to vividly painted tropical flowers that stand proud, all fighting to be noticed. The vases and bowls the plants jostle in are just as important in their decoration with fun geometric patterns, that you almost want to go and create your own brightly coloured garden! Melgaard is exhibiting at Bie & Vadstrup Gallery in Copenhagen, Denmark in March 2013 and you can see more of her magical work at annesofiemeldgaard.com.
