Rex Ray Bridging the Gap Between Art and Design inspiration

Rex Ray is a brilliant artist who manages to bridge the gap between fine art and commercial graphic design. His influences come from the arts and crafts movement, abstract expressionism, pattern and textile design and op art. Ray works in a wide range of media from painting, collage, print works and photography and from his studio in San Francisco he creates some wonderful products such as scarfs, rugs, wall art and colourful patterned boxes. Ray’s client list is pretty impressive too, creating work for the likes of Apple, Sony, Warner Brothers and posters for The Rolling Stones, REM, Bjork, U2 and Radiohead.
