Lance Letscher – Collage King

Collections of old books, letters, recipes, children’s story books, album covers and found papers are meticulously cut and pieced together by the renowned collage artist Lance Letscher. Letscher’s attention to detail and eye for colour and composition is remarkable and his growing international reputation has resulted in solo shows in England, France, Germany, Poland and Spain. The comparison to quilt making is apt when you know of his wife’s collection of quilt blocks and patterns. The way the materials are sliced into strips, squares, wedges and then re-formed into crystal-like patterns of depth and texture is just beautiful. Lance Letscher : Collage (UT Press Fine Art Series) is a limited edition of 250 signed copies, a nice edition to any designer / book collector.

I Am Your Exotic Bird – Tracy Potts

We love these mixed media artworks by Australian artist Tracy Potts, she mixes crochet, knitting, sewing and paint onto canvas in a completely captivating and eccentric way. She graduated from the University of South Australia with a Fine Arts degree majoring in printmaking and this certainly shows in her work. Zhou Fan – Layered Dreamscape

Chinese illustrator Zhou Fan has a distinct Japanese quality in his art and visual explorations. Fan explains ‘ My paintings are based on dreams that I had as a child of many many jellyfish floating in the sky, some of which fell to the ground on parachures and became mushrooms. These dreams had a strong impact on me, and I remember them vividly.‘ Patternbank love Fan’s amazing dreamscape visions that use colour, texture and strange subject matter which create some mesmerizing imagery.
