I Am Your Exotic Bird Tracy Potts inspiration

We love these mixed media artworks by Australian artist Tracy Potts, she mixes crochet, knitting, sewing and paint onto canvas in a completely captivating and eccentric way. She graduated from the University of South Australia with a Fine Arts degree majoring in printmaking and this certainly shows in her work. Love it – you can check a few more of here pieces at the Anita Traverso Gallery.

Molly Rose Freeman Urban Constallations inspiration

Street artist Molly Rose Freeman lets her art transform urban spaces. From soulless, uninspiring surroundings her paintings develop and grow, ‘I use basic geometric shapes so they can become anything, move any way they want. I don’t know what the wall will look like really until the very end. It’s exciting to be surprised, to make something without fully understanding what you’re making. That’s the magic’. Her interest in geometric shapes within sacred spaces, throughout history and culture, have led her to recreate this within urban landscapes. Molly has worked within Street Art groups and outreach programs such as Livingwalls and The City Speaks, in deprived areas throughout the US helping to inject energy and spirit through art. See all her latest projects on her website.

Alexandros Vasmoulakis Super Sized Street Art graphics

Patternbank loves the awe-inspiring street art by Greek illustrator and artist Alexandros Vasmoulakis. We were drawn to his fresh contemporary take on street art. Graffiti was the  foundation for his progression into painting, and after studying at the Athens School of Fine Arts, Vasmoulakis worked as an illustrator with advertising companies producing ad murals. See more of Alexandros abstract wall murals on his portfolio site vasmou.com

Jose Lerma Mixed Media knows No Bounds inspiration

José Lerma creates a mixture of paintings and intricate installations combining non-traditional materials from reflective fabrics, commercial carpet, thickly applied paint and biro pen. In this he makes reference to his own personal history and academic knowledge of social history, law and art. Some of these images feature Baroque style portraits of historical, famous French Bankers from 18th Century sporting over-exaggerrated sketchy, doodle wigs with distorted and blank faces. The scale of the installation pieces has great effect where the viewer can walk over and examine at detail. Lerma says, ” I like the thought of people walking over my ideas, convoluted and preliminary as they often are, and examining and stepping over an intimate space while simultaneously feeling small.” You can see more of is highly spell bounding work at joselerma.com  and on flickr
