José Parlá Signatures and Writings inspiration

José Parla’s paintings are a visual narrative of his experiences in different cities, drawing inspiration from urban landscapes and the energy and memories that inform him. Through layering of paint, abstract painterly dabs, collaged materials, filling and often obscuring it’s contents in successive layers he creates these wonderful “memory documents” as he calls them. Parlá was born in Miami, Florida, he began painting in 1983 in the style of subway art. Mostly known by the street artist name Ease, Parlá moved to New York in 1997. Ben Boothby Architectural memories inspiration

Architectural depth and texture are a bold trend through Ben Boothby’s portfolio of paintings, ‘They are mnemonic structures; holding a multitude of conflicting emotions from that space. Through this study of the architectural nature of my memories, I am creating visualizations of the way memories exist in all of our minds.’ Patternbank love’s the combination of geometric, architectural lines, contrasted with the energy and movement created in his painting. Boothby is currently exhibiting in Jeffery Leder Gallery, Long Island City, NY until Nov 3rd.

Sharon Hovarth Labyrinth of Lines inspiration

It can take Sharon Hovarth years to complete a single large canvas and it’s not suprising when you look at all the labyrinth of lines and layers that unfold to reveal bits and pieces both recognisable and mysterious. This New York artist works from her ground floor studio at the Brooklyn Navy Yard creating these complicated paintings suffused with brilliant, often startling hues. An electric night sky, glittering with stars, is anchored by a network of hatching. Linear lanes of infrastructure recall the rusted-out buildings and new scaffolding that stand shoulder to shoulder beyond her studio window. The overall effect is one of great beauty and vivid imagery that you want to get up close to. See more of her stunning work at sharonhovarth.com
