Cate Edwards paints these wonderful pictures filled with decoration and illustrative stories. Cate was born in Sydney and spent her teenage years living on 15 acres of Eagle Bay beachfront in the South West of Western Australia. She later returned to Sydney where she taught art at Sydney high schools but now concentrates on her own work. “I have been exploring the liveliness that comes from placing transparency and opacity near each other. I find pen and ink comforting and love nothing more than to spend hours doodling and watching pieces evolve.” Patternbank love the figurative detail in her work mixed with nature and patterned surfaces which you can see more of on her flickr page.
The Patternbank team are loving these colourful, abstract forms by New York based artist Erin O’Keefe. Using photographs as her final art pieces, O’Keefe explores unpredictable discrepancy between objects and the two dimensional images. We’re in love with the splice and collage pattern plays that happen within her artworks. Check out Erin’s latest collection ‘The Flatness’ on her Tumblr portfolio site.
Patternbank are loving the amazing artwork from recently graduated printmaker and illustrator Elliot Coffin. With his hands in many pies including his involvement in the Fingerprint Club, (a collective of young printmakers) and a band member/ album cover designer in his band ‘ Paradox of The Plankton’, Coffin still finds time to run his own blog and print his own bedding. His graduation show from The Arts University at Bournmouth, was held at ‘The Rag Factory’ in Brick Lane and images from this and other projects Coffin has been involved in can be seen here.
