 Nature Captured John Buck inspiration

Patternbank discovered these amazing woodblock prints by artist, John Buck, who’s recently been a featured on Pinterest. Buck primarily a sculptor, started his career in the early 1970s and lives and works in Hawaii and Montana. These prints featuring bottled, botanical scenes in vivid colour and pieces in monochrome, showing images of human life and the world have particularly inspired us. Pakayla Rae Biehn Not Just Another Double Exposure Series inspiration

When Patternbank first stubbled on these images on Pinterest we did a double take, first assuming they were another interpretation of the many double exposure photographs that seem to be everywhere at the moment. In fact when we took a closer look at Pakayal Rae Biehhns work on her website youshouldtakecare.com we discovered they are her own beautiful take on this much loved photo technique. Biehn uses oils and acrylics on canvas and paints life-like floral designs over some of her favourite images. The result is very convincing and where you can see her brush marks it makes for all the more interest.

Digital Print Stimulation Basso & Brooke S/S12 Prints print pattern

With experimental digital prints continuing to trend for Spring/Summer 2013, the Patternbank crew spotted these amazing photo collage prints by Brit/Brazilian duo Basso & Brooke. These prints are from their current Spring/Summer 2012 collection but with their creative forward thinking, we are seeing this style of print as a key reference point for the upcoming Spring/Summer 2013 catwalk shows. Mixing photo floral elements, abstract surreal backdrops and digitally manipulated imagery, Basso & Brooke are definitely the designers to keep an eye on for upcoming digital print trends.

Hypnotic Edge Bjoern Ewers inspiration

Patternbank are loving Berlin-based Photographer Bjoern Ewers. We were stunned by some of his latest creations and the team wanted to share. Three highlights from Studio314 include: his hypnotizing colorful soap bubble photographs entitled ‘Orbital’, ‘Crash’ a powerful study of crumpled foil and ‘Memento-Mori’ a macabre set of dead or dying florals. Which reminded Patternbank of our Dark Bloom trend that we highlighted in the A/W 2012 catwalk print trend report.
