Patternbank just love these lush tropical landscapes by artist Orlanda Broom. Dripping in exuberant colours Broom takes her inspiration from a variety of landscape painters and botanical artists with particular interest in the work of Henri Rousseau. The dream-like worlds Broom creates in dense layers give a sense of the mysterious lurking behind those beautiful leaves and flowers. Check out more on her website orlandabroomartist.com

She later returned to Sydney where she taught art at Sydney high schools but now concentrates on her own work. “I have been exploring the liveliness that comes from placing transparency and opacity near each other. I find pen and ink comforting and love nothing more than to spend hours doodling and watching pieces evolve.” Patternbank love the figurative detail in her work mixed with nature and patterned surfaces which you can see more of on her flickr page.
