Huguette Caland born in Beirut in Lebanon in 1931 began painting at the age of 16 with an Italian tutor, Fernando Manetti. She studied art at the American University of Beirut and then resided in Paris for 17 years.
In 1987 she moved to Venice, California where she currently lives and works. Her paintings certainly show a love of colour and pattern and its not surprising that she worked as a fashion designer for Pierre Cardin.
