Fluid Complexity Joshua M. Smith graphics

Hydro74 is a respected Orlando based designer, otherwise known as Joshua M. Smith. Hydro74 is a master of achieving smooth fluid lines within his work and swears by drawing everything by hand first. The computer aided vector process comes after Smith is happy with the final sketched artwork. Patternbank love these latest artworks, where halftone pattern, complex vector form and overlaid colour blend together to create a collection of powerful visual images.  Hydro74.com

Marit Fujiwara Sculptured Contours inspiration

Marit Fujiwara graduated from Chelsea College of Art and Design in 2009 and then set up her company Tanana Takite. Specialising in mixed media and constructive textiles, she creates some really unique pieces that push the boundaries between Art, Craft and Design. She adopts an experimental attitude towards materials, combining traditional printing techniques with embroidery and fabric manipulation. As a keen illustrator, she bases her work on drawing allowing fluidity to her garments projecting the idea of movement and time. You can see some really beautiful pieces on her Flickr page including some amazing one off wedding dresses. We’d love to know what she is creating now.

Tata Christiane Magical Realism print pattern

Tata Christiane is a fashion and costume label founded by Julie Bourgeois and Hanrigabriel. This particular collection titled Magic Realism was inspired by the book One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Marquez. As they put it, “This new collection explores this country, the city of mirrors and the subjectivity of reality to propose a world, according to a particular perception. In the complexity of times. This collection will turn around mocked mood, mixture of fabrics and motives. Feathers and froufou. Fantastic and marvellous. And Humour.” Patternbank love all the collage mix of prints and fabrics with that touch of humour.
