Mysterious Assemblages Eva Eun Sil Han inspiration

Layering materials hides the original identity of photographs, transforming them into these mysterious, collaged assemblages. Flashes of colour, from found papers, add depth and contrast  in the bold monochromatic mood of the collection. Layers and repetition of shape create an inherent sense of pattern and control – as well as adding a 3D element to a flat image. The recurring circular form has become a signature of Eva Eun-Sil Han – find more of these intriguing pieces at evahan.weebly.com

Atelier Olschinsky Metamorphosen and Bubbles inspiration

Great work here by Vienna Based Studio Atelier Olschinsky – we’ve chosen the sets Bubbles 3 and Metamorphosen II but we could have chosen many other inspiring pattern based work from their site. Loving the textures, colours, abstract quality and depth of these pieces. Also, check out our Urban Decay post on Atelier Olschinsky and their website – olschinsky.at with a large selection of quality work. As they say ”It is just so important to work as much as you can, to learn and to be open to new things. The journey is the award.”

Ollie Lucas Patterns and Geometric Shapes on Recycled Cable Spools inspiration

Melbourne based Visual Artist Ollie Lucas created these works on large recycled cable spools, up-cycling at its very best! We love the juxtaposition of the wood, graffiti, splattered paint, patterns and geometrics. Ollie says “Exposure to the graffiti scene in Melbourne has made me question harmony in my work, I have a love for filthy, dirty and weathered paint splattered surfaces, but at the same time I crave clean, modern, hardline geometrics. This is what drives my practice, combining two visual elements that are polar opposites in search for a harmony that I may never obtain.” To see more of Ollie’s work check him out on Flickr.

NASA Space Colony Art from the 1970s inspiration

NASA conducted some space colony summer studies in the 1970′s to house about 10,000 people in Space Colonies, these are the artistic renderings of the concepts. With incredible detail the artists attempted to recreate Mother Earth in Space. We love the colour, texture and feeling of these hand painted masterpieces, but as beautiful as they are lets hope we don’t need to resort to these ‘Colonies in the Sky’ any time soon!.
