Affordable Art Fair London Artist Highlights inspiration

The Patternbank team visited London’s Affordable Art Fair in Battersea Park last weekend. The Affordable Art Fair’s formula is simple, yet unique: a relaxed, inspiring environment and lots of good quality contemporary art. In this post we give a quick snapshot of our favorite finds whilst walking the show. Check the website for dates and info on other global cities that the fair is visiting.

Harold Hollingsworth Textural Graphic Abstract Beauty graphics

Patternbank are loving the way Harold Hollingsworth re-interprets vintage lettering and embellishments into beautiful layered large scale mixed media paintings. They contain a great deal of texture and depth with the beautiful hand painted vintage lettering dissected and then overlaid on to canvas and panels. For more of Harold’s work check out his website.

Philip Dennis Felt Tip Sketching inspiration

Patternbank love the sketchy quality in the work of graphic artist Philip Dennis. Trained in illustration at University of Brighton, Dennis spent time in Japan before returning to the U.K. to focus on his illustration. His style is heavily influenced by comic books and the hatching techniques used by artist John Romita Jr. who fired his interest in illustration as a child. Dennis creates his pieces by scanning, layering and collaging his hand drawn images and experimental mark making on the computer, and finally colours them digitally to produce the final artwork.

Jack Hardwicke Cosmic inspiration

These completely out-of-this-world cosmic creations are created by Brighton based Photographer Jack Hardwicke. Patternbank are loving the awesome clash of colours and the otherworldly abstract qualities of these pieces. Are they photographs, paintings, scientific experiments or fragments from the outer regions of the universe – who knows?, but one thing is for sure they are incredibly mesmerising and beautiful. For much, much more check out The Eidophusikon, and from October 17th to November 13th during Brighton’s Biennial Photography Festival, Brighton Fishing Quarter Gallery presents an exclusive collection of digital art by Jack Hardwicke. ‘Fragmented Moments’ is a showcase of abstract photography, art and design by one of Brighton’s emerging talents – go check it out.

Tosha Albor Primordial Expression inspiration

These amazingly powerful, experimental drawings and paintings are the creations of Tosha Albor. Tosha is a visual artist born in Manila and currently based in San Francisco. She completed a BTEC in Fine Art at the University for the Creative Arts in Canterbury, UK. In her work she embrasses the act of construction and deconstruction, with the addition of mark-making and free flowing narratives being another important factor driving her paintings. See more of her work on her site toshaalbor.com
