Margriet Smulders Photographic Masters inspiration

Margriet Smulders Photography evokes that feeling of the great Dutch painters of the seventeenth century with theatrical scenes of flowers and fruit. Lush and strangely erotic with the use of huge mirrors, glass vases, rich draperies, fruit and cut blooms Smulders arranges her subject beautifully. The result is impressive and rich in texture colour and content. You can see more of her outstanding work at margrietsmulders.nl and some beautiful book publications too.

Emma Bennett Dark Forces inspiration

These paintings by Emma Bennett stopped us in our tracks with their elements of still life set against expanse void-like grounds. By depicting fragile life forms such as flowers, fruit, small birds, fish and hunted game set against dark, monochromatic grounds, Bennett engages with notions of time, transience, life, death and life after death. They also got us thinking of Dolce and Gabbanas‘ A/W 2012 catwalk show and the A/W 2013 trend for Dark Blooms, a perfect reference material to follow. via I Need A Guide.
