Fantastical Bio scientific Thoughts Katie Scott inspiration

Patternbank are loving Katie Scott’s surreal anatomy and scientific illustrations. A recent Brighton University illustration graduate, Katie uses scanned watercolor swatches to create these amazing studies. We love the subtle blue and green hues that gel the illustrations together in a truly natural way. See more of her work on her portfolio site katie-scott.com

Mario Kolaric Diary Fragments inspiration

We love the simplicity of these experimental drawings by Croatia based visual artist Mario Kolaric, the set entitled ‘Diary Fragments’ is an ongoing project which consist of selected drawings from his diary. Obviously painstakingly hand drawn they look like they could have been generated by an early computer mapping fragments of random objects. The beautiful simplicity of line and colour on textured paper is simply stunning. Check out his website for more excellent work and his Tumblr.

Secret Gardens Moon Beom inspiration

From a series titled ‘Secret Gardens’ these ghostly, almost other-wordly paintings reflect the spontaneity of nature and landscapes – as well as echoing traditional Korean figurative painting. An endless space is created by organic flowing structures and soft washes of primary colour floating and falling off the canvas. See Moon Beom’s amazing paintings for yourself, at the Saatchi Gallery – currently exhibiting in ‘Korean Eye’

Nate Duval Crazy Chaotic Harmony graphics

Nate Duval’s quantity, quality and variety of work is incredible, one man creates all this great stuff. These are gig posters, band t-shirts and album covers of the highest order. We love the crazy and often chaotic, almost psychedelic patterns and textures that he crafts into his work and the freaky amalgamation of humans and animals. It’s beautiful to see such consistent quality throughout this Massachusetts-based illustrator and designer’s work. To see his drawings before he’s coloured them up check out his Tumblr, for everything else get yourself over to nateduval.com

Mysterious Assemblages Eva Eun Sil Han inspiration

Layering materials hides the original identity of photographs, transforming them into these mysterious, collaged assemblages. Flashes of colour, from found papers, add depth and contrast  in the bold monochromatic mood of the collection. Layers and repetition of shape create an inherent sense of pattern and control – as well as adding a 3D element to a flat image. The recurring circular form has become a signature of Eva Eun-Sil Han – find more of these intriguing pieces at evahan.weebly.com
