These crafted photo-real studies are the amazing work of Spanish illustrator Oriol Angrill Jorda. Whilst studying printmaking at Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design, Oriol explored a hugh variety of techniques including pastel, watercolours, colored pencil, white pencil on black textured paper, acrylics, graphite, charcoal and so on. These experimental explorations carved the way for his unique and mesmerizing style. Oriol’s recent mixed media works combine landscape visuals with portrait studies, creating a fresh take on the photo-real illustration trend we are tracking at the moment.

Lisa A Frank Nature of Pattern inspiration

These beautiful photographic patterns are constructed from daily snapshots that Lisa A Frank takes while walking in the woods, then the images are “sewn” together through extreme image layering and masking. From the Artists Statement “Choosing to focus on natural elements that are not commonly appreciated or used for decorative purposes, my artwork is connected to the “wildness” in nature even as it is taming it by the cre-ation of formal patterning. Creating a context for connection, it is my purpose to draw the viewer into a local world as it hasn’t been seen before – charged with wonder – rich, complex and changeable while being inclusive and accessible.” For more of these wonderful and magical patterns check out Lisa A Frank Photography.

Chad Hagen – Playful Geometrics inspiration

Playful geometrics mimicking information graphs come with a hint of nostalgia in Chad Hagen’s work – yet everything still feels very contemporary, clean cut and fresh. Alongside working with geometric shapes to create these pieces monochromatic disjointed imagery, typography and precise linear illustrations highlight his real attention for detail.
