His digital artworks take on new forms when computer screens displaying original photos are smashed up and then re-photographed. Patternbank love the sketchy quality in the work of graphic artist Philip Dennis. Trained in illustration at University of Brighton, Dennis spent time in Japan before returning to the U.K. to focus on his illustration. His style is heavily influenced by comic books and the hatching techniques used by artist John Romita Jr. who fired his interest in illustration as a child. Dennis creates his pieces by scanning, layering and collaging his hand drawn images and experimental mark making on the computer, and finally colours them digitally to produce the final artwork.
