Susan Chrysler White Powerful Pattern and Form inspiration

Patternbank love these paintings by Iowa artist Susan Chrysler White. Susan experiments with a variety of techniques, printing and pouring paint to create intense layers and depth in her paintings. Explorations in the bilateral Roscharch-like image and organic inspired figures can be found hidden within decorative elements of her work. The result is real vibrancy and powerful plays with pattern and form, mixing elements of sculpture and movement. Check out more of her work and incredible 3D-like chandeliers at susanchryslerwhite.com

Xochi Solis Molecular Collage inspiration

Wonderful mixed-media collage here by Austin, Texas based artist Xochi Solis. In addition to her studio practice, she is also the Director of Events and Public Programming at the Visual Arts Center, University of Texas at Austin. We love the way she builds up the different elements of mixed-media, one on top of each other to resemble some sort of layered molecular structure. Find more of her captivating work on her website.

Jenny Odell Humanity Seen From The Stars inspiration

San Francisco based artist Jenny Odell facinates and inspires with her collection of satallite view art. With a MFA in design from the San Francisco Art Institute and a BA in English Literature, Odell has featured work in the Google Headquaters and Les Recontres D’Arles in France, and has appeared in numerous magazines and publications. ‘In all of these prints, I collect things that I’ve cut out from Google Satellite View,-parking lots, silos, landfills, waste ponds. The view from a satellite is not a human one, nor is it one we were ever really meant to see. But it is precisely from this inhuman point of view that we are able to read our own humanity, in all of its tiny, repetitive marks upon the face of the earth. From this view, the lines that make up basketball courts and the scattered blue rectangles of swimming pools become like hieroglyphs that say: people were here’. Feast your eyes on more from her portfolio on her website.

Takahiro Kimura Human Spirit inspiration

Takahiro Kimura collages are unique portrayals of the fragility of the human soul. Through colour, pattern, texture and a certain amount of distortion his subjects come to life showing the complicated nature of the human spirit. Kimura’s collages are made by cutting up photos which are then rearranged and worked into with intense colour and detail. Patternbank loved looking through his variety of work at faceful.jp
