Frida Giannini for Gucci Resort Spring 2013 Botanical Studies print pattern

The resort Spring 2013 collections are showing some inspiring prints and Patternbank love Frida Giannini’s collection for Gucci, see our Première Vision + Indigo - Spring/Summer 2013 Print Trends - Garden Crop for more floral inspiration. These beautiful hand drawn florals that appeared on everything from a floor-length burgundy gowns to a white linen peacoat, looked striking on their solid colour backgrounds. In fact the Flora print was used in her debut collection of accessories for the house in 1997 to decorate various garments. Images via  fashionising.com

Mixed Media Botanical Prints Michael Mew inspiration

Patternbank have been tracking Michael Mew’s work for some time now and thought we’d share to those who have not seen his stunning visuals. We love the energy of Mew’s mixed collage paintings, that layer antique flea market finds with pictorial flower studies. Vintage type collides beautifully with hand drawn botanical florals.  Check out more of Mew’s work on his portfolio site michaelstudio.com

Thierry Feuz True Technicolour Beauty inspiration

Thierry Feuz creates his paintings using a mix of acrylic and lacquer, which highlights and intensifies the colours and gives vibrant lift to his semi abstract world. A white, almost clinical serene background is dashed with bursting, fizzing colour making the viewer feel like their gazing into a petri dish. Others are a series of deep blue canvases which appear to be deep sea underworlds or cosmic explosions. Feuz’s Technicolour series show layers of intense lacquered stripes that are packed with life and movement. The diversity of his work is immense but the underlying theme here is, how he sees the natural world and showing it’s beauty in a true way.
