Takahiro Kimura Human Spirit inspiration

Takahiro Kimura collages are unique portrayals of the fragility of the human soul. Through colour, pattern, texture and a certain amount of distortion his subjects come to life showing the complicated nature of the human spirit. Kimura’s collages are made by cutting up photos which are then rearranged and worked into with intense colour and detail. Patternbank loved looking through his variety of work at faceful.jp

Nick Thomm Digital Psychedelia inspiration

Sebastian Wahl Sacred Geometry and Shamanic Visions inspiration

Sebastian Wahl uses hand made papers that he has been collecting since as early as 1992. Searching, collecting and cataloguing is a large part of the process that he loves. He meticulously isolates the images from their original reality by cutting them out using an x-acto knife and then injects them into a new reality with the help of glue, he then places the selected images between multiple layers of clear resin building a collage time capsule in 3-dimensions. Check out more Kaleidoscopic creations on his website.

Daniel Brown Digital Floral Art inspiration

Daniel Brown is a highly talented designer, programmer and artist, who has worked for an impressive client list including Selfridges & Co, Le Printemps Paris, Mulberry, Victoria & Albert Museum, Conran Architects, Nick Knight Studio, Sony and Dazed and Confused. Part of Brown’s work is in generative animation where patterns grow, develop and mutate within a set of programmed rules. In an exhibition at the V&A called Decode, Brown was commissioned to create a three-story high generative flower work. The petals of the flowers are generated textures derived from works from the museum archive including William Morris textiles and Kimono fabrics. Layered Silhouettes Tom Gallant inspiration

London based artist Tom Gallant uses his mastery in the traditional Japanese paper crafts or Kiri-gami and Origami, to create these fascinating images. After studying in graphic design, Gallant continued his education in fine art at Camberwell School of art, and gaining a fellowship at The Royal Academy Schools. Using pages from pornographic magazines, Gallant explores our fascination with pornography and the division of the sexes in the late 19 century. These images are hidden within his feathery depictions of wildlife and pattern. A selection of his work is currently being exhibited alongside 31 other paper cutting artists in ‘The First Cut’, at Manchester Art Gallery until 27th Jan 2013.
