Eugène Séguy Science and Textiles inspiration

Eugène Séguy (1890 – 1985) was a French entomologist who published many portfolios of illustrations and designs from the turn of the century to the 1930s who worked in both the Art Deco and Art Nouveau styles. Séguy wanted to use his artistic skill to glorify the sublime beauty of nature, creating what he called a ‘world of sumptuous forms and colours.’ He then transformed these beautiful illustrations into textile designs. Incredible – see more here.

Daniel Mackie Art Deco and Ukiyo e Influenced Animal Illustration inspiration

These beautiful watercolour illustrations are by award winning watercolour artist and illustrator Daniel Mackie, who won “Best in Book” in the Creative Review Ilustration Annual 2011. The collection of art cards and prints started out with a loose theme of “animals in their natural habitat”, and ended up as the habitat being in the animal. Nostalgic traveller Jonas Bergstrand inspiration

Swedish illustrator Jonas Bergstrand has an awesome eye for patterns and a keen eye for vintage looks. He also has a great way of describing his work, “See things clearly, make things clear. In an entertaining way. That’s what I always set out to do”. Patternbank love Bergstrand’s vintage aesthetic that he gives to his work while still managing to inject a fresh feel to the visuals.

Patternbank particularly like his latest nostalgic Art-Deco inspired travel posters commissioned to promoted the Soho Beach House in Miami.
