Valerie Roybal Vintage Collage inspiration

We are loving these collages by Valerie Roybal who currently lives and works in Albuquerque. Her work is primarily inspired by vintage, salvaged, and collected materials which she finds at flea markets and antique shops. Much of her work consists of layered surfaces: bits and pieces from discarded books and magazines, handwritten letters and receipts, obsolete reference material, thrift store textiles, and mysterious random pieces. Check more of her beautiful work check out her website or her Flickr page.

Melanie Authier Improbable Environments inspiration

Melanie Authier’s paintings bring together visual contradictions into one imaginary space. By drawing upon the histories of abstraction and the strategies of representation, she presents improbable environments. A sense of disorientation comes about through the way in which colour, texture, line and shape compete for room within the canvas. Each work presents a brimming jostle of oppositions that the viewer is invited to bring into a certain order. Check out more of her stunning work on her website.

Antonio Marras Pre Fall 2013 Collection catwalks

Patternbank are big fans of Antonio Marras who always delivers when it comes to print, pattern and a love of fabrics, embroidery and embellishment. This Pre Fall 2013 collection didn’t fail to delight with beautifully executed floral prints mixed with geometric and paisley patterns. Exquisite jacquard coats and knitwear featured textured pattern and small tie motifs. It’s not surprising then that Marras was previously artistic director at Kenzo where mixing inspirations, costume, textiles and contemporary art goes hand in hand. Jason Thielke Laser etched Beauty inspiration

Patternbank are loving Jason Thielke’s stylised linear interpretations of the human form. Jason Thielke’s beautiful imagery navigates the astoundingly complex dynamics of human nature, mixing a hard linear style with soft and fluid emotion. Thielke combines many different techniques which include acrylic paintings, block printing, pencil drawings and his signature laser-etching techniques, which have real visual impact. Jason Thielke earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts from Northern Illinois University School of Art. His work has been featured internationally in galleries and art fairs, with solo exhibitions in Denver, Portland and Seattle.

Amrei Hofstätter Japan Inspired Digital Design print pattern

Berlin based Artist/ Illustrater Amrei Hofstätter is a self admitted Origami obsessive. The Japanese paper art is evident in her work, adding the charateristic shapes and dimension. The idea of misbalance and imperfection serves as inspiration, and her interest in Freud’s idea of the ‘uncanny’ and the human psyche, fuel her desire to create a feeling of irritation within the viewer, evoking something inside they were not yet aware of. Patternbank loved fashion designer Manish Arora’s heavily embellished, futuristic collection Amrei collaborated with in A/W 11/12. Visit her website to see more.
