These Iconic Portraits Made of Headshots by Kim Dong Yoo are hand painted multidimensional portraits of iconic figures, from Michael Jackson and Madonna to John F. Kennedy and Albert Einstein, comprised of various well-known individuals.
Though these images may seem like your average, recycled headshot of a classic star, they are, in fact, oil paintings made up of thousands of portraits of another established individual.
We stumbled upon these great pieces by Marius Roosendaal, a Graphic Designer and Art Director from the Netherlands. The project is titled ‘Make Something Cool Every Day’ and we think he has certainly succeeded as these bold, abstract, geometric pieces really work well. Collaborations are a key part of creating new energy within a brand and can also be a great marketing tool for any new or emerging artist. Part of Carhartt’s Spring/Summer collection is a collaboration with Alessandro ‘Zuek’ Simonetti on a series of t-shirts. The Italian photographer’s black-and-white images appear on four t-shirts, which are currently available at Carhartt flagships and retailers.
With photographic t-shirt prints still trending at many of the recent apparel trade shows(Bread & Butter, Magic, Capsule), Patternbank felt these photo collage artworks by Nick Morris were of real fresh graphic inspiration. Featuring evocative, retro-style images, Nick Morris’ art calls to mind a time of artistic girl-next-door pin ups and sleek muscle cars, with a tinge of sci-fi.
Aussie Nick Morris has worked in the street/surf/art sub-culture since the early 90s and has worked for brands such as Quiksilver, Paul Frank, Stussy and Mambo.
Typographical trends and styling are an ever-changing creative language. Patternbank loved Dries Van Noten’s recent colourful collaboration with artists Letman and Gijs Freiling.
Dries Van Noten’s F/W men’s 2012 runway show was turned into a working mural art piece. Letman and Gijs Freiling interpreting Van Noten’s “psychedelic elegance” collection with a mix of eye-catching typography, surreal illustrations and acid-bright colourful patterns.
We love the diverse patterns found in these new paintings from artist Beverly Fisherman. Lola Dupré is a collage artist and illustrator currently working near Avignon in the south of France. The collage work is all painstakingly handmade with paper, scissors and glue.
