Cardboard Cityscapes Evol graphics

Patternbank spotted these incredible transformed cardboard pieces by German street artist EVOL. These stencils statements show great attention to detail, depicting light and shadow that transforms surfaces of consumer packaging into fascinating, seemingly multi-dimensional pieces of art.

Fluid Complexity Joshua M. Smith graphics

Hydro74 is a respected Orlando based designer, otherwise known as Joshua M. Smith. Hydro74 is a master of achieving smooth fluid lines within his work and swears by drawing everything by hand first. The computer aided vector process comes after Smith is happy with the final sketched artwork. Patternbank love these latest artworks, where halftone pattern, complex vector form and overlaid colour blend together to create a collection of powerful visual images.  Hydro74.com

Cosmic Nuggets Fantastical Characters graphics

Cosmic Nuggets, a Scottish artist, has created a whole host of these fantastical characters which you can see more of on his Flickr page. To say that he must have a pretty wild imagination is an under statement and it might have something to do with his intense interest in biology, specifically the areas of species and evolution. We think they have a slight Aboriginal look to them with all those dots in black, red and yellow. His work, which of course deserves to be printed on T-Shirts and already has, is available at Society 6.

Organic Urban Patterns Lee Jang Sub graphics

Rome

The Complexcity project maps the urban sprawls of major cities, Lee Jang Sub has mapped Seoul, Paris, Rome, Moscow and Tokyo to date. Over time the cities have organically grown and formed intricate patterns. We love the way they take on the appearance of of something from nature, yet in fact they are all man made systems. Check more of Korean born Lee Jang Sub’s mesmerising work out on his website leejangsub.com

Marcus Walters Simple and Captivating graphics

Marcus Walters works across a variety of media including collage, drawing and screen printing, he has exhibited work in shows in Europe and America and featured in many books and magazines. Marcus also sells screen printed artwork in shops and galleries across the country including the V&A. He lives in the countryside, sharing a studio in Gloucestershire, UK with his wife Hayley. He studied Graphic Design at Central Saint Martins and this shows in his work that is uncluttered, simple and captivating with that unmistakeable block, overlayed, colour that can only be achieved through screen printing. After our trip to Pick Me Up we are hooked on this handmade, tactile way of working. Marcus deservedly has a great client list including Honda, Citroen, Innocent, Howies and Uniqlo amongst others. His new show, Strange Brew with the Yule Bringer, Adam Higton opened on Good Friday at the Here Gallery in Stokes Croft, Bristol. You can buy lots of great prints at his shop, check his latest on his blog or check his website.
